In response to the countrywide unrest caused by the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP) had to postpone board exams. Fortunately, things have settled down, and now BISEP has announced new dates for the postponed exams.

The announcement stated that exams initially scheduled to take place between May 9 and May 12 will now be held from May 19 to May 23. Mathematics exams for 10th-grade students will be on May 19, 9th-grade students will have their mathematics exam on May 20, chemistry exams for 10th-grade students will take place on May 22, and 9th-grade mathematics exams will be held May 23. The rest of the exams, including biology and Pakistan studies, will be conducted according to their existing schedule.

On a related note, the statement noted that government and private educational institutions will reopen on Monday, May 15. This news will be welcomed by students who have had to put up with a lot this past week.

It is worth noting that PTI supporters engaged in violent protests after the party chairman’s arrest. Several individuals were killed, and there was severe damage to infrastructure in certain cities, prompting the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab to call in the army to help control the situation. As a result, educational institutions were closed, and board exams were postponed. The situation in the country has since improved following the release of the PTI leader after a court order.
