Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, posted a video of himself riding a heavy bike through the streets of Lahore, which went viral on social media. In the video, he can be seen zooming through the streets with the caption “Ready, set, GO!”. The video received over 2000 retweets and hundreds of comments from fans of the cricketer from across the country.

What is Babar Azam up to?

Babar recently signed up for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) franchise Colombo Strikers for the upcoming event scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 22. The LPL is a five-team tournament that will be held at three venues, likely to be Hambantota, Colombo and Kandy. Babar is in top form and is currently one of Pakistan’s most successful captains, and will be leading the national team till the 2023 World Cup, to be held in India in October.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any official announcement yet, but according to well-informed sources, the PCB’s management committee has decided to retain Babar as the captain of the team till the World Cup. Besides leading the team to the No 1 spot in ODIs, Babar is also unbeatable on the batting chart in the format. All three of PCB’s management – Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi, chief selector Haroon Rashid, and Director Coaching Mickey Arthur have unanimously decided to continue with Babar as the captain till the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Babar will also captain the team in all series and events in the run-up to the mega event, which includes a two-Test match series against Sri Lanka, a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, and Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan in September.
