Amidst the controversy surrounding the alleged inclusion of a jibe at Kate Middleton in the screenplay of the remake of “The Little Mermaid,” Disney has issued a statement clarifying that Zach Johnson, Omid Scobie’s friend, and critic of the British royal family, had nothing to do with the creation of the movie.
The film, which stars Halle Bailey in the lead role of Ariel, has faced criticism for its alleged mockery of Diana, Princess of Wales. However, supporters of Meghan Markle have noted that her interview with Oprah Winfrey drew parallels between herself and Ariel.
The journalist Richard Eden claimed that Zach Johnson, who used to work with Scobie, is a senior figure at Walt Disney Company. He suggested that Johnson may have played a role in the alleged jibe in the movie.
Disney, however, has issued a statement refuting these claims, saying that Johnson was not involved with the creation of the movie’s screenplay.
It is worth noting that Omid Scobie is the co-author of “Finding Freedom,” an unauthorized biography of Meghan and Harry.
