This figure is determined by the streaming platform’s Top 10 website, covering the period between May 8 and May 14. The Mother surpassed the previous record set by Luther: The Fallen Sun, which gained 65.92 million viewing hours in its opening weekend back in February 2023.
The film stars Jennifer Lopez as a highly skilled female assassin who has spent years on the run. However, her life takes an abrupt turn when she has to protect her estranged daughter. The movie has been well-received by critics and audiences alike, thanks in no small part to its excellent cast and thrilling plot.
The film was directed by Niki Caro, with the screenplay written by Misha Green, Andrea Berloff, and Peter Craig, based on a story by Green. In addition to Jennifer Lopez, the movie features performances by Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci, and Gael García Bernal.
With its groundbreaking audience numbers, The Mother has cemented its place in Netflix history and proved to be a hit with viewers worldwide.
