K-Pop singing sensation, Haesoo, aged 29, has reportedly died by suicide, leaving behind a farewell note, according to a media report on May 15. Haesoo was scheduled to perform on May 20 in Wanju Gun, Jeollabuk-do, at the Gwanjumyeon People’s Day event, as confirmed by its organizers to the media.
The South Korean police found the corpse of a female trot singer in her 30s in an apartment complex on May 13. They also recovered a suicide note that suggested suicide as the cause of death, ruling out foul play. Haesoo is believed to be the deceased singer because of her association with trot music. This suspicion was further fueled by the turning off of the comment section on her Instagram account on May 14.
Haesoo was an active user of her social media accounts and frequently connected with her fans. She was born in 1993 and pursued majors in Pansori (a type of Korean traditional music) at the Korea National University of Arts but later found her passion in trot after following Joo Hyun Mi’s music. Her debut album, My life, Me, was released in 2019.
The talented singer was a regular participant in music shows, including Gayo Stage, Morning Yard, The Trot Show, How Do You Play, and KBS TV2’s Lunar New Year special in January 2023.
