Kate Winslet, the renowned English actress, has added another feather to her cap by winning the Best Actress award at the BAFTA Awards. The 47-year-old actress couldn’t contain her emotions and broke down while accepting the award for her exceptional performance in the movie I Am Ruth.
Although Winslet has won almost 20 awards in her illustrious career, the actress still gets deeply touched by the recognition and accolades that come her way. She even acknowledged her proclivity of getting emotional while accepting the award during the ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall.
Winslet appeared alongside her daughter Mia Threapleton in I Am Ruth, and the actress paid homage to her daughter during her acceptance speech. She stated, “If I could break it in half, I would give the other half to my daughter Mia Threapleton, we did this together, kiddo. To the people in power, please criminalize harmful content. We don’t want it… to any young person long person listening please ask for help, It will be there, just ask for it.”
The BAFTA Awards have been an integral part of Winslet’s career, as the actress won her first BAFTA in 1996 when she was only 20 years old, for her supporting role as Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility.
