Katy Perry, American Idol judge, came under fire for allegedly exhibiting bullying behaviour towards one of the contestants on the show. The father of Wé Ani, one of the contestants, called her out for unfair treatment towards his daughter.
Mac McDonald, Wé Ani’s father, took to Instagram to express his disappointment in Katy Perry’s behaviour. He recounted how his daughter, an impressionable teenager at the time, had met Perry years ago and idolized her. However, when they met again on the American Idol stage, Perry delivered an undeserved snarky response that hurt Wé Ani deeply. McDonald accused Perry of behaving like a regular bully and not acknowledging her actions or apologizing for them.
There were reports that Perry might leave American Idol due to growing viewer backlash.
