The latest movie from Martin Scorsese, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is being lauded as one of the greatest films ever made. This high-honor follows on the heels of the movie receiving a full 9-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival.
As Scorsese’s first-ever Western, the sprawling film that clocks in at around 3.5 hours is already being hailed as a major triumph. The movie is led by legendary actor Leonardo DiCaprio and has been receiving glowing five-star reviews from numerous critics.
Some of the accolades for the film includes IndieWire‘s praise for DiCaprio’s career-topping performance and The Guardian’s praise for its portrayal of a “remarkable epic about the bloody birth of America.” However, not all reviews have been positive, with The Times branding it as “a damp squib.”
The film is an ambitious adaptation of the non-fiction novel by best-selling author David Grann and stars multiple icons such as Robert De Niro, DiCaprio, and Lily Gladstone. Reportedly, the film cost around $200 million to produce as an Apple production.
‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ marks Scorsese’s return to the Cannes Festival for the first time since the premiere of the 1985 movie, ‘After Hours’. Reflecting on his latest project, Scorsese shared, “We shot this a couple of years ago in Oklahoma. It’s taken its time to come around, but Apple did so great by us.”
