Actress Priyanka Chopra, who is good friends with Meghan Markle, stars in the new Amazon Prime Video series, Citadel, which appears to have made a snide remark about Kate Middleton, the sister-in-law of the former duchess.
The show, which premiered in April, portrays the downfall of a global spy agency that removes its agents’ memories. In the third episode, Chopra plays the role of Nadia Sinh, an espionage agent who whispers instructions to her partner, Mason Kane/Kyle Conroy (played by Richard Madden), through an earpiece to meet with crime lord Sen Monro’s Balduino Basto, via a report in Us Weekly.
During a conversation with the crime boss in the show, the character played by Chopra reportedly suggests the other character to say, “The chief of armed forces? You might as well have asked me how to get between the legs of the Duchess of Cambridge!”
Kate Middleton, who was formerly known as the Duchess of Cambridge, was named the Princess of Wales after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. However, when the show was filmed, Kate was still holding her former title.
Chopra, a former star of Quantico and now aged 40, has been friends with Markle, aged 41, for several years and even attended her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
In April 2018, Chopra-Jonas exclusively expressed her thoughts to Us Weekly regarding Meghan saying, “I’ve known Meghan for three years and I’m so happy the way the world has responded to her because as long as I’ve known her… she is a relatable young woman of the world today.”
It is rumored that Meghan and Kate are not on good terms. In 2018, Meghan claimed that Kate made her cry prior to the wedding, but news reports suggest the vice versa situation.
During an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, the Suits actress stated, “Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true.” Their relationship since then does not appear to have significantly improved.
