During a visit to the Indian pavilion at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, celebrated actor Michael Douglas expressed his desire to explore southern India and announced that he is planning a trip soon. Douglas, who was recently presented with the honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes, visited the Indian pavilion with India’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan. Murugan also invited the actor to the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, scheduled for November this year.

While reminiscing about his past trips to India, Douglas remarked, “I have been to India now three times. I always had a wonderful, wonderful experience. I have been very impressed with the energy, the imagination, and the creativity.” He also shared that he and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, who are both admired Bollywood fans, have never visited the southern part of India but intend to do so on their next trip.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were featured in the 2022 film Unplugged in Mumbai, which followed their adventure exploring the city. Directed by Shailendra Singh, the movie was released in July 2022.
