Nick Cannon recently reflected on the antisemitism controversy that surrounded Kanye West last year. Cannon, who was himself facing accusations of antisemitism at that time, shared that he had reached out to West in an attempt to diffuse the situation between the rapper and the religious community.
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Cannon stated, “Kanye is saying some wild stuff, and I don’t know if he really believes it… I tried to talk to him. I tried to put him with leaders in the Jewish community. I think it’s a lot more there. I just know he’s in desperate need of help and love and people to not abandon him.”
West found himself embroiled in a series of crises last year after he made anti-Semitic statements on social media and during interviews. The backlash was significant, with the 45-year-old losing sponsorships, partnerships, deals, and incurring a sharp loss of wealth.
Meanwhile, Adidas is reportedly set to continue paying royalties to West, with the company planning to sell unsold Yeezys. Under their previous agreement, Adidas would pay West 15% of sales for each sneaker sold, as reported by Sportskeeda. Despite rumors to the contrary, Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden has remained silent on the issue, though he had previously stated that West would be paid royalties for every sale of his sneakers.
