Rebel Wilson has set social media abuzz after teasing fans with news of auditioning for the upcoming James Bond film. In an interview with Variety, the Senior Year actress revealed that her hosting of the BAFTA Film Awards 2022 led to her getting a chance to audition for the coveted franchise. She explained that she contacted producers to clear a planned series of jokes and, after the show, got to audition for a role in the upcoming James Bond film.
Interestingly, Wilson didn’t reveal the status of the role she auditioned for, but she confirmed it was not for the main lead. Previously, during the BAFTA Film Awards 2022, the 43-year-old joked that she had bagged a role in the next 007 movie, which amused audiences.
“Bond is turning 60 and his girlfriend is turning 25,” Wilson cheekily said. “I know there’s speculation in the audience it might be them [referring to Pam & Tommy’s Sebastian Stan and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya].
“Boys, hold on to your martinis, this is a scoop, the Broccoli’s said I could announce it, OK. I’m proud to announce that the new James Bond will be me,” she added in a humorous tone.
