Ryan Gosling, who is set to play the character of Ken in the upcoming highly anticipated ‘Barbie’ movie, has recently shared the unanticipated presents he received from his co-star Margot Robbie during the movie’s filming process.
The lead actor explained in an interview with E! Online that Robbie, who plays Barbie in the movie opposite Gosling, helped him to connect with the Ken character in a unique way.
Gosling said that Robbie would leave him a present every day on set with a pink bow, and all of the gifts had a beach theme, such as puka shells or a signboard that says ‘Pray for surf.’ These gifts helped Gosling to understand his character’s job as Ken, described as a toy “fashion guru.”
The 42-year-old actor admitted that he wasn’t entirely clear on what his character’s job would involve, but Robbie’s surprise presents helped him fill in the blanks. He appreciated Robbie’s supportive gesture as an insight from Barbie to Ken on how to deal with life.
Robbie’s technique had a positive impact on Gosling’s performance, and Robbie, who also served as a producer on the film, praised Gosling’s portrayal of Ken in the film and said it showcased “the greatest version of Ryan Gosling ever put on screen.”
The movie, set to release on July 21, is directed by Greta Gerwig, and interestingly, Robbie admitted that she didn’t have much personal experience with Barbie dolls while growing up, apart from playing with her cousin’s collection of Barbies.
As fans eagerly await the release of the film, it’s clear that both Gosling and Robbie had a harmonious working relationship, and Robbie’s thoughtful gifts played a significant role in helping Gosling understand his character’s job and duties.
