In 2012, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, along with his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, was accused of assaulting a South African businessman and his father-in-law. The businessman filed charges, and the trial is set to begin next month, where Khan will face charges filed under Indian Penal Code Sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) for the brawl.These events took place at the Wasabi restaurant in the Taj Hotel on February 22, 2012.
The incident happened while Khan was in the company of his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, her sister Karisma Kapoor, and their friends, including sisters Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora, and Amrita’s husband Shakeel Ladak. According to the businessman, when he complained about the group’s disturbance in the restaurant, Khan and his friends threatened him and punched him in the nose, fracturing it. Additionally, they assaulted the businessman’s father-in-law, Raman Patel.
Khan denied the allegations against him and claimed that Sharma had made offensive remarks and used profanity against his female friends, leading to the altercation. However, the police charged him on December 21, 2012, and the trial will begin on June 15th, which is the next date of hearing.
