Tom Hanks has recently voiced his opinion on who should play the iconic James Bond character in the franchise’s future installments.
Hanks believes that the British actor Idris Elba would be suitable for the role, given his impressive body of work.
Regarding this matter, Hanks said, “James Bond has a license to kill. I would issue that license to Idris Elba based just on the work that I’ve seen him do.”
Hanks’ stance on Elba playing Bond aligns with that of Pierce Brosnan, another actor who previously portrayed the character, as well as a vast number of fans. Despite their support, Elba has mentioned that he is currently not interested in the role, explaining that it is not a top priority for him professionally.
Even so, rumors surrounding Elba’s casting are likely to persist until the franchise’s production team makes an official announcement regarding who will become the next James Bond.
Elba stated, “It is not a goal for my career. I don’t think that, you know, playing Bond will satisfy some of my personal goals. It will certainly satisfy the will of a nation. I’m not going to lie. Everywhere across the world that I travel, and I’m talking about different cultures, they always mention ‘Bond’, and I think it’s beyond me at this point. It’s beyond me. It’s not a question of should I, do I, will I? It is what the will of the nation dictates sometimes.”
The producers of the James Bond franchise have confirmed that the search for the next actor to play the character has commenced. They are seeking a more experienced actor rather than someone younger, as Bond is portrayed as a seasoned veteran in the films.
