The Punjab Higher Education Department (PHED) has announced rescheduled dates for exams which were postponed due to violent protests. The exams were originally scheduled to be held from May 10-12 but were postponed after countrywide protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters following the arrest of the party’s chairman, Imran Khan.

The exams will now take place between May 17-19 as per the announcement made by PHED. Quran translation and ethics exams will take place on May 17 while chemistry and general science will take place on May 18. The exams for religious education and Islamiat-Dars-e-Nizami will be held on May 19.

The PHED has also announced that new roll number slips will be uploaded on respective board websites, although students can also take the exams on their old roll number slips. Students are advised to check their updated exam centres and reach there on the scheduled dates.

Violent protests erupted across the country after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, leading to the Punjab government calling in the army and imposing Section 144 which involved the banning of all kinds of protests. Education authorities in Punjab had to close down schools, colleges, and universities and postpone exams. The British Council also cancelled all scheduled exams across Pakistan. The situation has now somewhat stabilised after the release of the PTI chief.
